Our Commitment to St Clare’s Future

The following outlines SCIST’s carefully prepared plans and proposals:

  • Our financial resources, operational strategies, governance team, and educational leadership are independently verified and ready.
  • Operational costs are secured through formally documented pledges exceeding £1.3 million.
  • An emergency drawdown facility from an angel investor is confirmed, ensuring stability even in unforeseen circumstances.
  • Independently vetted five-year financial plans confirm the school’s long-term viability, cautious pupil enrolment projections, and stable cash flow.

Educational Excellence and Continuity

  • We are committed to preserving all current pupil scholarships, bursaries, and discounts.
  • An expert panel of education advisers, including Mr S. Clarke, Head Teacher of Ysgol Cwm Brombil, supports our governance and operational transition.

Community Support

  • Over 100 pupils have confirmed their intention to remain at the school.
  • Expressions of interest continue to be received from prospective families awaiting confirmation of the school’s future.

Our Concerns and Advocacy

  • We remain ready and willing to cooperate fully to progress the school’s continuation swiftly.
  • Our ongoing concern is ensuring transparency and effective communication, crucial for safeguarding the wellbeing of pupils and staff.

Fairness and Protection for Staff

  • We strongly advocate for a fair, transparent, and legally compliant consultation process.
  • Our plan offers staff a clear and voluntary opportunity to transfer employment through the TUPE process, ensuring continued stability and protection for those who wish to remain with the school.
  • Following any transfer we would respond proactively to evolving pupil needs and school circumstances. Any future adjustments would always be handled sensitively, transparently, and with full consultation, prioritising fairness and respect for staff throughout.
  • Existing contractual terms and conditions, including permanent retention of fee discounts, will remain in place for staff who choose to transfer, except for any adjustments mutually agreed prior to transfer.
  • However, we appreciate and respect that some staff may choose alternative paths due to the current uncertainty, and we are committed to supporting and honouring those choices.

Support and Respect for Staff

  • We call on all readers to remember that all staff at St Clare’s have nothing but the best interests of the whole school community at heart. As such, we explicitly ask that no one contacts them seeking answers that can only be provided by Cognita, allowing staff the time and energy needed to traverse this difficult situation as best they can.
  • We fully recognise and empathise with the emotional strain staff are experiencing. We are sure many feel they are caught in the crossfire, grappling with significant feelings of guilt about potentially leaving pupils they deeply care for. We understand that many staff members currently have limited options, and we want to express clearly that we deeply value their dedication, commitment, and ongoing support to pupils during this uncertain and challenging time.
  • We encourage all readers to remember that staff also need security, transparency, and answers just as parents do. Staff have their own financial commitments and responsibilities, which is why we have been clear from the outset that any staff transferred would do so willingly, without expectations or judgments.
  • We understand and support that individual staff members may need to make immediate or near-term decisions based on their personal circumstances, financial commitments, and need for certainty. These personal choices are entirely understood, respected, and supported by all involved.

  • Continue engaging MPs and relevant authorities to advocate for the school’s future.

We firmly maintain that St Clare’s School is uniquely valuable and viable. However, securing its future depends entirely upon genuine and cooperative engagement from Cognita. Without this essential collaboration, the school’s future cannot be assured. Our commitment remains firmly focused on pupil welfare, educational continuity, and staff protection.
