Open Letter from Oscar in Year 10

My name is Oscar Johns I’m 14 years old and have been in St Clare’s since reception. St Clare’s has always been a happy place and nurturing environment for me teaching valuable life lessons and helping me excel in my grades.

I have ADHD which makes it very difficult for me to achieve what I should and concentrate and at St Clare’s has always helped me to ensure I work My hardest I would not get this support anywhere else.

In year 8 in 2023 I left the school to attend Millfield School in Somerset whilst I was there My mental health took a turn for the worst resulting in me going down a very dark route mentally I knew as soon as I got there I made a very bad decision and things got worse and I left at the end of 2023 and went back to St Clare’s the pastoral team especially Mrs Smart and Mrs Bowen helped me return to a mentally stable position and since then I have only got better going up 3 to 4 grades since September.

When I heard Cognita had made the decision to close the school I was heartbroken having an amazing relationship with all staff and pupils and feeling part of a family more than a school it’s hard to see it all go away again. I always will love St Clare’s and be grateful for everything they have provided me.
